A small amount of tourmaline (uvite/dravite) was discovered in 2016 at White Bear Bay during mineral exploration on Baffin Island, Nunavut. Several complete crystals up to 3 cm across and a limited quantity of crystal fragments were collected. When viewed perpendicular to the c-axis this tourmaline is a medium-dark orange brown colour and when viewed parallel to the c-axis it appears extremely dark brown to black. Depending on how these gemstones are oriented with respect to the c-axis they can show either colour.
The tourmaline offered for sale on this page was collected in 2016 by Brad, the owner of Alpine Gems.
