In November 2017, a spectacular discovery of amethyst was made at La Manche Bay, near Arnold's Cove, Newfoundland. Prior to this find, Newfoundland was not known to host any significant amethyst deposits. The material is a mix of specimen and facet-grade amethyst of rich purple color, mostly without greyish overtones. Crystals are as large as 3-4 cm across with large transparent sections at their tips. Unfortunately most of the crystals are marred by barely visible cracks, which negatively affect the size of the resulting gems. The gemstones offered for sale on this page are from this new, exciting discovery.
